Though, “A man’s best friend is his wife” but, women are funny animals; and you never know where you are with them”.
When first the wife of the Nigerian President, Aisha Buhari make a tacit interview with BBC on issues surrounding her husband’s administration; many feared that her statements were scurrilous and scandalous while others insinuate that she should be extolled for speaking the minds of most Nigerians on how President Buhari is picking his cabinets.
Days after, President Buhari who is believed to be in a state of sangfroid over his wife’s comments make an encomium gesture when asked by German Press about the issue; “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, BUT she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room” he responded.
Undeniably, the President clearly implies (jokingly) to the whole world that he didn’t take all what she (his wife) said serious and was not angry with her. He directly advised her to stick to her role as housewife.Although the President was just making a repartee, little does his wife (Aisha Buhari) remembers the very first day he unconditionally pronounced that “He belongs to everybody and he belongs to nobody”. Was she not aware that with the above statement she should expect strangers to work with her husband?
Aisha Buhari should not be making a tableau like Mama P. of the past administration. She should know better that Nigeria is bigger than her, to some extent even bigger than her husband; the President. As such therefore, it (Nigeria) needs people from every alcove and crevice of its habitants irrespective of religious or party affiliation to come together in salvaging mission. If not, then Nigerian masses will take the words of the President over her being belongs to “his kitchen,…., and the other room” as shibboleth.
Nigeria is already in a JUMBLE, and the President is trying hard his best to turn things around even with the Economic meltdown facing the whole world. If, you as his wife can’t give him the support he needs right at the moment; I take it you should leave him with the already wailers in town who are trying every inch to bring this administration down. Unless, if you’re turning into THE MOTHER OF ALL WAILERS!!
