Present Katsina State government being led by RH. Aminu Bello Masari is malfunctioning, frustrating and diverting the attention of gullible people of Katsina with their political tricks and maneuver, deviating from the actual happenings on ground as regards funds management in his led administration. Despite the fact that Federal Government has been allocating funds for them to carryout both recurrent and capital projects within their respective States. Instead of them focusing on capital projects (infrastructure) that will supports the vulnerable communities, such as; improving economic wellbeing of the less privilege, According to ― Bret Easton Ellis, Glamorama “The better you look, the more you see.”
So, by establishing more resource centers that will look into the present employment challenges, founding agricultural institutions, massive housing Programme, pension and gratuities, improving education and providing more health facilities but resorting to blame game, issues like “we are getting our looted funds back from the previous administration” though it has been a very good idea, but then where are we in other areas? Over the past years of his led governance, Masari has not implement his single campaign promise except adding more salt to injury.
Few month of his administration, Masari has scraped developmental projects that have direct impacts on the common people in the State, and has so far no meaningful initiatives that supports the masses, there are so many instances, I gave an example on my recent comment in one of the article by Baba Bala Katsina that, the WAEC /NECO support which the Katsina masses been enjoying as part of their benefits of democracy from previous administration is now part of the State history, and my point here is simple, am highlighting one of the very few things that the masses will raise their voice through the roofing that they enjoying from PDP led government.
One of their concerns is students were not getting good results, so, according to them, much resources were being committed without getting back the same value for money being spent due to (poor performance by most students). However, they do not have eyes at the back of their heads that the system will never allow people to gets good results due to poorness state of the educational facilities, too many number of students per class, most times 100 and above, unqualified teachers at various level of learning centers, no regular trainings and re-trainings for staff at various levels of learning, and these challenges are many, too numerous to mention, the list is on and on.
In the same vein, during late Yaradua, almost all primary schools were reconstructed across the State, Shema came and tried to improve on attendance, avoiding dropouts as a result of lack of resources to sit for exams and so on, pays both WAEC / NECO for all students writing exams across the State, instead the current administration to identify other challenging issues as highlighted above, staff welfare and improving the technical skills of our teachers for them to be able to pass across qualitative knowledge to pupils, but was busy scraping meaningful policies. My surprise, and my thought initially was that, he has better plans to replace what he has scraped as some of the benefit of democracy initiated by the previous governor of Katsina to ease the suffering of the common man.
Nothing is being done, no any tangible projects on ground, no any alternative except some very few “RENOVATIONS” of health facilities, primary schools, hotels and supporting families, to be fair, could also remember that some people benefited from “GOATS” disbursement within few month of their inauguration for empowerment, flagging of “CBN Anchor Borrower Programme” which we have no iota of knowledge as to how the beneficiaries would be selected, amongst other things were also the renaming of capital projects that he has no idea whatsoever when it being constructed / implemented, an example was “KARKANDA” now Muhammadu Dikko and the rest were history. We are not saying you should not take into account all these kind of issues, but leaving behind important issues and addressing unnecessary things are unacceptable at this moment of emerging complex challenges.
Meanwhile, other States have gone far ahead of us in terms of well robust economic planning, especially agriculture which accounted for almost 80% of our rural and urban livelihoods, and also education, for education in Katsina we are backsliding, going back to our previous state. An example is Kaduna State, everyone knows that the State is far ahead of us in terms of education, but the governor is supporting the sector almost 100%, ours is destruction of some laid weak blocks that needs watering. So, my concern is, what has this current government been doing all these while with federal government grands being received from the federal government purse, apart from developing and very few renovation of some health facilities, primary schools, hotels and gardens?
As aforementioned above, am not hailing the past administration, but truth be told, despite corruption and inflated capital projects, PDP is far better than APC of Katsina. This is because the level of corruption during Shema administration is still visible in a self-affirmation, existing within the system of current administration, which is conflicting to the change we voted for. The allocations from federal government have not made any significant impacts on the lives of the vulnerable people in Katsina due to either mismanagement of funds or misplacement of priority. Despite the so-called recession that you could hear from very close allies of the current administration, referring to direct beneficiaries of the administration, . Never a convincing statement to my paining ears that there are currently no much allocations comparable to previous administration. So where are the allocations going? Because so far, we do not see any gargantuan project(s) that is/are ongoing within the state metropolitan (array) and other part of the state, ohh Someone needs to prove us wrong as to what we are saying is not true.?
Categorically, and moving forward, the current administration has to go back to an illustration board, have a very wonderful sketch, well painted picture, colored with awesome attraction that could convince the general populace to overwhelmingly look through the lens, a transparent object that would help them in magnifying their forsight and decide their future for another years, for his easy passage in the next few years, specifically 2019. We have our eyes at the back of our minds, observing as to what is/are transpiring as events unfold,
Our fingers, including legs are crossed.
