The 2023 general election is fast approaching, and number of candidates have so far shown interest to succeed the Executive Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari.
From the opposition PDP to the ruling APC, other parties such as the PRP, NNPP and SDP alike all have contenders vying for the most hottest seat.
But, all things being equal, who Katsina State does really need?
In the face of the State's dwindling economy, which files hardship and uncertainty on the electorates amidst insecurity, global warming, looming hunger and high rate of unemployment. What Katsina State need is a Governor with FOCUS and blueprint to take the State back to its glorious days - by addressing pressing issues that would advertently restore the home of hospitality.
Not a Governor who would spend the State's resources partying with Kannywood stars in return for entertainment and most of course not a Governor who will keep mum and watch while innocent lives are lost through armed banditry, youths taking arms roaming the streets in the name of Ƙauraye and children dropping out of schools because they cannot afford to pay for NECO and WAEC.
The next Katsina Governor must be intentional and resolute to overhaul the AGRICULTURAL status of the State which will help in addressing hunger and poverty thereby boosting the State's economy.
The next Governor must be committed to make sure that access to QUALITY EDUCATION is guaranteed to all - including the children of the poor.
He must be willing to appoint ONLY qualified candidates to positions vital to positioning the State on the right track.
The next Governor must not likely come from a certain zone or group or political party, but must come from a committed and value-driven mindset that would work towards ensuring a PEACEFUL and SUSTAINABLE Katsina, for us all.
